About the Alexandra Harrier and Walkers Club

The Alexandra Harrier and Walkers Club meets every Saturday afternoon during the club season (Easter to Labour Weekend) for a run and walk in the Central Otago area.  All grades of fitness are catered for with four running packs and two walking groups.  Each Saturday the group head to a different venue for a run or walk over or around the hills, meeting back at the bus afterwards for a cuppa and a chat.  The packs are generally out for around one and half hours, though sometimes we will plan a slightly longer run.

We normally head out together in the bus from Alexandra, travelling somewhere between 10 minutes to an hour to get to our venue.  Venues change from year to year and can include Queenstown, Matakanui, Chatto Creek, Cromwell, Gorge Creek, Bannockburn, Thompsons Gorge, Earnscleugh, Galloway and often a mystery trip.

Once a year we head out for the weekend.  Past venues include Glenorchy, Haast and the Catlins.

We also organise the annual 10km Clyde to Alexandra Road Race in August attracting top runners and walkers from Otago and Southland.
