Welcome to the Alexandra Harrier and Walkers Club

"Run and walk over the hills of Central Otago with the harriers!"

Members of the Alexandra Harriers and Walkers Club go running and walking every winter Saturday afternoon between Easter and Labour Weekend. We explore the hills and valleys around Central Otago, usually meeting at 1:00pm in Alexandra and taking a bus to our venue. The runs and walks are normally 1.5 hours long and finish with a hot cuppa back at the bus.

With four running packs and two or three walking groups, all levels of fitness are catered for. Visitors to Central are invited to join in.

Saturday 3 October 2009 -- Rowing Club Rooms, Weatherall Creek

This Saturday we are off to the Rowing club rooms, Weatherall Creek, Lake Dunstan.

The bus leaves from the old pool, corner of Thompson St, Walton St and Rivers Road, Alexandra at 1:00pm.

Note that we do not cancel in bad weather but the venue may change. Please listen to local radio stations for alternative venue if the weather is bad.

Life member, Jim Sim, passed away 21 April 2009. Members are invited to participate in a guard of honour for him at his funeral, 2pm on Saturday 25 April at St Enochs, Alexandra.

7-8 March 2009 - The Harrier Hawks Relay for Life Team joined with 77 other teams who had been fundraising for the Cancer Society's Central Otago Relay for Life to walk, and occasionally run, for 24 hours around a 420m circuit at the Cromwell Racecourse.

28 Feb 2009 - Papatowai Challenge Congratulations to Ewan Fallow and John Watson who placed highly in their agegroups.

March 2008 - Gary Hesson was awarded life membership at our recent Annual General Meeting in Alexandra. Gary has been on the commmittee for over a decade and has contributed much to our group over this period, leading the D-pack, involved with organising the Clyde to Alexandra road races, and working as treasurer for many years and now Vice-President! Congratulations Gary!
